The Beginners

We welcome children into our practice around the age of three. This is a good age because most children will have all of their teeth and are learning to listen and cooperate with others. We are very patient and gentle with little ones and do everything we can to make their visit a pleasant one. Much can be done for your child's teeth before their first visit. At about one year of age, your kids need to have their teeth cleaned on a daily basis. In the beginning, a damp washcloth can be used. As they get older, we recommend a small toothbrush and a pea-size amount of toothpaste. This is important to remove the plaque that causes cavities. Parents must also remember that if their children take a bottle of milk or juice to bed, this can quickly lead to "baby bottle tooth decay". Let's work together to teach our young patients how to care for their pearly whites.
